It is being increasingly recognized that women of a certain age have certain needs.  Our lives and bodies are changing.  We have questions.  We have concerns. We have hot flashes. And there are a record number of us out there.   We are also very busy.  Women’s Health Services of Henry Ford Health System recognizes this and is doing something about it.  The menopause support group concept started at the Fairlane Center in Dearborn is being expanded to three more  Henry Ford Health System sites.  This gives interested women options for more convenient dates and locations

We have dubbed these free seminars- “Support Circles”.  Although each month has a designated topic, we envision that these circles will provide an  environment in which each participant has the opportunity to have individual questions and concerns addressed.  You are invited to contribute to discussions as much or as little as you like.  My experience is that, sometimes, the best solutions to issues or problems may come from the participants themselves.  We are inviting health care professionals from across our health system to come, talk and offer their expertise.  A  physician or nurse-practitioner with expertise in menopause will  also be  present.  Each will be the consistent facilitator at  each site and help keep the perspective on women’s health and the menopause factor.   As I continue to anchor the Fairlane site; the West Bloomfield Hospital, Cottage Hospital and the Lakeside clinic sites will each have a dedicated physician or nurse-practitioner facilitator.
